NPIE Bridge Program

The AutoTronics Taipei was held from April 19 to 22 at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. It was a joint exhibition of four shows: TAIPEI AMPA, AutoTronics Taipei, Motorcycle Taiwan, and EV Taiwan, which altogether attracted over 7,000 international visitors from 129 countries. It’s hard to go unnoticed that automotive electronics is drawing worldwide attention, and that Taiwan’s development in this industry is gaining global recognition and trust.

The NPIE Bridge showcased the latest automotive technologies developed by four of its academic research teams, including “Deep Learning Based ADAS System” by Prof. Jiun-In Guo of National Chiao Tung University, “fastBooting your Car Panel and Car Computer” by Prof. Shi-Wu Lo of National Chung Cheng University, “Reliable Object Detection and Distance Estimation Technology for Intelligent ADAS” by Prof. Kuan-Hung Chen of Feng Chia University, and “Can Bus OBDII Bridge” by Prof. Jing-Jou Tang of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Through the bringing to light of academic research potential, we hope that academic teams will be able to develop automotive technologies for the industry and establish industry-academic collaboration.

Being positioned in a highly visible location at the exhibition entrance, our stands were able to attract more than 1,500 visitors over the four days. Furthermore, the NPIE Bridge was interviewed by Vehicle Electronics, an online magazine from the UK, and published under the article headline ‘Bridge to industry’. It is a great honor for NPIE Bridge and its research groups to gain international recognition and visibility through the appearance in this online magazine.

While the main goals are to establish industry-academic collaboration and to generate technology transfer, there are many other advantages to joining exhibitions. For example, research teams can better understand the global trend of smart electronics through the buyers’ enquiries and needs.

In the second half of this year, NPIE Bridge will continue to showcase academic R&D advancements in international exhibitions and hold matchmaking events, so as to enhance our visibility and market value in the global intelligent electronics area, and build industrial competitiveness of Taiwan’s intelligent electronics.
